Restricted traffic zone and traffic: what to know before driving in Turin
Central Turin has a restricted traffic zone active on weekdays, with cameras that automatically fine unauthorised entries. If your goal is to see Turin itself, skip the car: the metro, trams and porticoes cover everything better, and the centre is compact and walkable. If your goal is the Langhe, the Sacra di San Michele or the Olympic valleys, renting makes sense — pick up the car at the airport or station and don't attempt to drive it into the restricted zone.
When it makes sense
For the Langhe and Monferrato, for the Sacra di San Michele and the Susa Valley, or for the Olympic valleys in winter. Pick-up is best arranged at the airport or station.
When it doesn't
